The Central Illinois Truck Convoy is grateful to everyone who has donated to Mae’s Miracle.
Mae is the one-year-old daughter of Michael and Mackenzie Buzzard of Altamont. Mae was recently diagnosed with Leigh Syndrome, a progressive terminal disease that affects the brain and can eventually take away a child’s ability to walk, talk, and eat. There is currently no cure.
Proceeds will fund groundbreaking gene therapy–Cure Mito’s “One Shot to Live”.
$15,000 was raised through the convoy, plus another $5,700 was raised through a booth Mae’s family had set up during the Convoyin’ At The Crossroads event.
An anonymous investor stepped forward to match all donations made throughout September, so the amount of funds raised is now at $41,400.
Another fundraising event is set for this Sunday at the Teutopolis Banquet Hall.
