The House sent a stopgap funding bill to the president’s desk Sept. 1, averting a government shutdown Oct. 1.
The continuing resolution extends federal government funding at its current levels through Dec. 11 — pushing difficult budget decisions until after the midterm elections.
The bill passed by a 370-48 vote, with 19 Republicans and 29 Democrats voting against it. The Senate approved the funding bill in early August.
The funding extension provides lawmakers more time to work out a larger government funding deal after those negotiations stalled in July.
