There has been accident involving several semi trucks on westbound I-70 just southwest of the split, between Effingham and Altamont.
Beginning in the late morning, the westbound portion of Interstate 70 will be closed for a few hours due to a fire involving the vehicles.
Travelers are being re-directed to southbound I-57 and then through the country.
Route 40 may be used as an alternative.
