North Clay school board members heard from their Buildings and Grounds Committee about exploring outside services for district landscape maintenance. Additionally, the committee highlighted the need to evaluate options for restroom facilities at the high school baseball diamond.
Superintendent Keith Price stated that the pre-k playground is nearing completion after a two-week delay in July due to an electrical issue caused by 1976 wiring feeding into the elementary building. Price said the issue was at no fault to the district and any cost for upgrades have been covered by Ameren. The District is planning having the pre-k students take part in a ribbon cutting when the playground officially opens this week.
The North Clay district had 388 students enrolled in grades pre-k through 8th grade, and 168 students enrolled in 9th through 12 grades. Also, the tentative Fiscal 2027 budget was placed on file with a hearing scheduled for September 23.
The Board accepted a letter of resignation from Mandi Bloemker as elementary teacher; hired Cameron Stone as a Title teacher; hired Stephanie Coble as senior class sponsor; hired Noah Barnard as Class of 2030 sponsor; hired Morgan Cox as high school Nevco videoboard sponsor; hired Denise Phillips as junior high cross country coach; hired Rase Collins as freshman class sponsor; hired Meghan Borcherding as high school volleyball freshman coach; hired Gavin Hosselton as boys basketball fresh/soph coach; hired Megan Welty as junior high multi-media sponsor; and provided the administration authority to fill non-certified positions.
