Two vehicles collided Sunday afternoon at the intersection of US Route 40 and Illinois Route 128 between Altamont and St. Elmo.
State police reported the crash occurred at 5:09pm. The crash site is at the Effingham County/Fayette County line.
State police report that two SUVs were involved in the crash. One driver, 18-year-old Sophia Rhoden of Decatur, was cited for failure to yield at the intersection. No names were provided of those in the other vehicle, which was driven by a 34-year-old man from Altamont. Also in the other vehicle, a 32-year-old woman from Altamont and six children ages two to 13 years old.
The intersection was shut down for several hours as a result of the crash.
