Effingham County Board members Monday amended an ordinance establishing civil fees and criminal and traffic assessments charged by the Circuit Clerk’s office.
The Board also approved an intergovernmental agreement involving the city, the county, and the 911. The agreement is updated annually and regulates what 911 pays to the city and the county for use of their telecommunicators. Board members also the County holiday schedule for 2027, and appointed officials to various bodies, including Ryan Witges a trustee of the Teutopolis Fire Protection District, Mike Garbe to the Lucas Drainage District, Tim Jansen to the Island Grove Drainage District, Joe Thoele to the South Island Drainage District, and Dennis Niemerg to the St. Francis Township Drainage District.
Board members approved a bridge aid petition from Union Township; approved use of the historic courtyard and pavilion for Cruise Night on September 12; authorized the County Airport Authority or Hanson Engineers to enforce up to 58 days of liquidated damaged on a new airport hangar building; approved disbursement of up to $1,200 in economic development funding for an intermediary re-lending program; and approved publishing a request for proposal for an ambulance contract.
The Board approved disbursement of $1,000 for grant application and submission for storm towers and sirens; approved a switch of board members Jeremy Deters and Sandi Rich to make Deters chairman and Rich vice-chairman of the ambulance oversight committee due to Rich’s workload on the wind and solar committee; and required more timely deadlines for turning in fines and fees for animal control. The Board also encouraged moving up timelines for paying transportation deadlines.
Board members were also reminded that the ribbon cutting for the extension of the east-west runway for Effingham County Regional Airport is set for 11am this Thursday.
