One person has been in court for his alleged role in a burglary and theft in Fayette County, and another arrest is expected.

Fayette County State’s Attorney Brenda Mathis said a Marshall resident, 30-year-old Mark Heath, has been arrested on counts of burglary and theft. Mathis said Heath is accused of breaking into storage containers on the site of a solar construction worksite outside Vandalia on Monday.

The Fayette County Sheriff’s Office said construction site coordinators were able to review and provide camera footage from several security cameras showing two suspects in a passenger car with extensive damage to the passenger side breaking into the containers. Items taken included copper wire, multiple Milwaukee tools, and other personal items belonging to employees. The items taken were valued at approximately $12,000.

A Crime Watchers tip was received that led the investigation to Marshall, and with assistance from Clark County Sheriff’s Office and Marshall police, Heath was arrested. Mathis said the second arrest should occur shortly. Heath is next due in court September 16.
