Authorities are investigating a fatal crash south of Effingham this morning.
The crash occurred shortly before 5am on I-57 southbound, south of the 57/70 split. The single-passenger vehicle skidded off the wet lanes and struck the guardrail. The driver, who lived outside the Effingham area, was pronounced dead at the scene.
Additional information will be released once authorities contact next-of-kin.
The roadway is again open to traffic.
