A full weekend of activities marks the start of the 82nd Effingham County Fair.
Saturday events will include a car show at 9am, sponsored by Heartland Towing
The Freedom 250 Museum opens Saturday and will operate from 6 to 9pm.
The feature evening attraction will be the Pro Pulling League Champions Tour starting at 6pm, sponsored by Beck’s and by Nelson Trucking.
Sunday will mark the first of six days of harness racing. Post time is 12 noon and that will continue each day through Friday. There are 13 heats on Sunday including the Jeffers Memorial Stakes, sponsored by Leisure Times and People’s Bank and Trust.
Other Sunday activities will include a 5K run and walk at 7:30am, a church service at 8am in the 4-H Arena, and the Freedom 250 Museum open from 11am to 9pm. The 4-H beef show will begin at noon. A reminder of a community showcase at 2:30pm in the Schuetzenfest Building, as well as Ashley Jo on the free stage at 1pm. The parade will step off from the bleacher factory parking lot and will make its way in front of the grandstand at 4:30pm. The Mutineers will perform on the free stage at 5pm, and the Master Showmanship contest will take place in the 4-H Arena at 6pm. The Talent Show will begin at 6:30pm, followed by the Junior Miss Pageant and Little Mister event at 7:30pm.
The Effingham County Fair will run through Saturday, August 8 at Altamont.
