Altamont city council Monday passed the appropriations ordinance for the new fiscal year.

The appropriation totaled $9,557,727.

The Council also amended the appointment ordinance for the fiscal year. Vaughn Voelker is retiring as Altamont’s water superintendent as of July 31 after 22 years. The Council voted to named Ryan Spade as both superintendent of water and sewer.

Council members approved a payment to Altamont Masonic Lodge #533, pursuant to their TIF agreement. The payment totaled $4,000, which will cover the cost of new windows for the lodge. The Council also approved a roadside fundraiser request to the Effingham Knights of Columbus Council for a Tootsie Roll drive set for September 18.
