Teutopolis was also impacted by Monday’s early morning storms.
Teutopolis Fire Chief Tim McMahon said a semi rolled over on westbound Interstate 70 about three miles east of Montrose at 5am. The incident blocked the passing lane. The driver was injured and was taken for treatment.
McMahon said several big trees in Teutopolis were downed by the storms, as well as limbs, and said there was flooding throughout the village.
Effingham County Fair Board President Phil Hartke, who lives southeast of Teutopolis, said they received 5-1/2 inches of rain at their farm. He added that a tree fell on a house and truck on Pearl Street, south of the Teutopolis Banquet Hall.
