Fire damaged a house at 1032 Northwood Drive in Effingham about 9:30pm Friday.
Effingham Fire Chief Brant Yochum said the fire was accidental. The house is owned by Angie Beatty Jones. No one was injured.
Members of the family were at home when they noticed the fire, which started in a bedroom. They closed the door to the room and that reduced the oxygen that would have otherwise fueled the fire. Yochum estimated the dollar value of the damage done at $25,000.
Teutopolis firefighters assisted Effingham firefighters at the scene. Other companies that would ordinarily assisted were already assisting with another call in the area. Effingham City Police and Rural Med EMS were also on the scene.
