Recognition is planned at this year’s Effingham County Fair for all the farms in Effingham County that have been owned by the same family for more than 100 years.
Fair Board President Phil Hartke said, “This is how it works. A 3ft by 4ft map of Effingham County will be on display in the east display building at the fair, near the antiques displays. Find your farm envelope, take the colored sticker out of envelope and place it at the location of your farm on the county map. Then, take your envelope to the fair office and get two free tickets to the Harness Races.”

Hartke said, “There are over 80 farms in the county that have been owned by the same family for more than 150 years. There are about 80 more farms owned by the same family for over 100 years. I also have the complete list of all the farms from the Illinois Department of Agriculture at the display. Come to the fair and fill that map with with farm ownership stickers.”
