The Effingham Noon Rotary Club marked Changeover Day July 1 and began a new club year.

Chris Debolt was welcomed as new club president after being officially installed in Rotary District ceremonies last week in Bloomington. Debolt succeeds Mike Kirchhoff as club president.

The new president mentioned two initiatives for his club year. One is “Rotary on the Road”, where the club will occasionally take meetings to remote locations. Another initiative is “Replanting Effingham County”. Debolt noted that the recent tornado ruined many trees. He’d like the club to replace many of those trees through various endeavors.

The July 1 meeting also gave the club the chance to bid farewell to Rotary Youth Exchange student Lenny Grossel. Lenny will head home to Germany next week after a year living with Mike and Lynn Kirchhoff and Delbert and Beverly Soltwedel. Rotary Youth Exchange is a global Rotary outreach.
