A hearing is set for today on a proposed solar energy farm east of Mason.

The hearing will begin at 5pm at the Effingham County Office Building in the 3rd floor Board meeting room.

Mason Plains LLC has petitioned to construct and operate the solar energy facility on 15 acres of land generally along East 300th Avenue, also known as the Mason-Eberle Road, in Union Township. The facility is projected to generate 3.6 megawatts of electricity. The total parcel of property being sought is 30 acres.

Today’s hearing will be conducted by the Effingham County Wind and Solar Committee, and is open to the public.
