Traffic was disrupted for hours Saturday on I-70 following a crash involving three semi trailer trucks. One of the truck drivers was killed in the crash.

Illinois State Police said the crash occurred just after 8:30am in the westbound lanes, five miles west of Greenup.

Cumberland County Coroner Jennifer Phipps said the driver who was killed was from out-of-state. Phipps has not released the name of the driver who was killed, as she is still attempting to notify the next-of-kin.

State police closed the westbound lanes and routed traffic off the interstate at the Greenup interchange. Traffic was sent south on Illinois Route 130 to Newton, then west on Illinois Route 33 through Dieterich to Effingham, where motorists could get back on the interstate.

Police say Westbound I-70 traffic was re-opened at approximately 5:25pm.
