An Effingham teenager was injured when the ATV he was operating collided with another vehicle late Monday morning.

The incident happened at 11:23am near Watson at 1200th Street and 900th Avenue. The Effingham County Sheriff’s Office reports the 14-year-old operating the ATV was southbound on 1200th Street and the vehicle driven by 29-year-old Tasha Sharp of Watson was traveling behind the ATV. Sharp began to pass the ATV as the ATV began to turn left and the Sharp vehicle sideswiped the ATV. The contact caused the ATV to roll over and leave the roadway, ejecting the 14-year-old from the ATV.

The 14-year-old was taken by Rural Med EMS to HSHS St. Anthony’s Memorial Hospital in Effingham for treatment. Sharp was not injured.

No citations were issued.
