Altamont city council members Tuesday realigned duties of city commissioners.

Changes on the Council in the past couple of years led to the moves.

Terry White will remain water and sewer commissioner. Recently sworn in commissioner Larry Taylor will oversee the electric department. Zain Parker will serve as commissioner of parks and cemeteries.

One vacancy remains on the Council due to a recent resignation. The person to be named to the Council will oversee streets and alleys.

Those interested in the position are asked to apply by June 5. The goal is to fill the vacancy at the Council meeting on June 8.

Also Tuesday, Altamont council members approved a TIF agreement with Tyler Polk and Erich Schmidt for work on a business building. The Council also paid R&H Plumbing and Heating just under $18,000 for a sewer main extension on Bond Street, and Milano and Grunloh Engineers of Effingham was approved as engineers to assist with water main replacement design.
