Effingham Water Authority trustees have voted to award repair work on the dam.

The bid went to low bidder John L. Lewis Concrete Construction for $24,320. That was the low of three bids received.

The Board approved the audit for the past fiscal year, heard about progress at Midwest Marina and considered a no wake sign for the Marina area, and discussed the commercial barge situation at the lake and possible areas that could be utilized. Regulations for boat covers extending past 24 feet were also discussed.

The Board heard of complaints about junk cars on a lot in Court One. The Authority attorneys will send a draft of their correspondence to the Board before anything is sent to the property owners. Also, a lease property has been sold at a tax sale, but the Board moved to stop the tax sale pending Water Authority options

Tom Ryan of the Parks and Rec Committee reported on a booth they had at the Lake Sara Marina Boat Show, and that the Captain was set to make his return to the beach on May 16 from 1 to 3:30pm.

Also, Kevin Hoene addressed the Board regarding a request for a variance of setbacks. The Authority asked Lake Superintendent Mike Dirks to look at the property and take some measurements before the Board will make a decision.

Dirks also reported that he spoke with Sami of the Illinois Department of Natural Resources and they are finalizing boundaries with plans to make a presentation at the May Authority meeting.
