Neoga school board members got a breakdown at this month’s meeting on how facilities are being addressed as repair work continues following last spring’s tornado.
Officials from K. Wohltman Construction said the work will continue in five phases. Phase One will involve the south gym; Phase Two, the north half of the junior/senior high building; Phase Three, the south end of the junior/senior high building and the cafetorium; Phase Four, the kitchen; and Phase Five, the north gym. The goal is to have the work completed in time for the 2027-28 school year.
Meanwhile, the goal is to have work at the elementary building completed this summer.
Also this month, the Neoga board renewed their food service agreement with OPAA! for the coming year, and approved the calendar for the coming school year with a Teacher’s Institute on August 12 and the first day for students on August 13.
In personnel moves, James Ballinger’s resignation as junior high assistant baseball coach was accepted. Those employed were Jaycee Boatman as head high school volleyball coach, Jerod McClellan as high school Scholar Bowl coach, and Elena Zerrusen as junior high student council sponsor.
That followed action by the Neoga board in March to hire Zerrusen as junior high interventionist, Victoria Abbott as junior high English teacher, and Dan Sheehan as high school assistant baseball coach. Also in March, the Board approved registration fees for the coming school year, and approved a health/life safety amendment for the junior/senior high school building to replace HVAC and the structural roof deck.
