The City of Effingham has released information on construction projects during the first quarter of 2026.
Permits were issued for four new single-family residences…one each in January and March and two in February. The four projects had a total value of just over $2.2 million.
Also, two addition or remodeling projects were approved worth just over $82,000.
Three new commercial projects were approved, with a total value of $1.85 million. Also approved were four commercial addition or remodeling projects with a total value of just under $2.9 million.
Just more than $61 million in projects were approved during 2025. That’s the biggest dollar value year since 2017, and it was almost three times more in dollar value than in 2024.
