The trial date has been vacated for a Vandalia murder suspect.
Arnold Rivera Jr. faces multiple charges including first degree murder in the death last November of a Vandalia teenager. The 43-year-old Rivera is also charged with aggravated criminal sexual assault and with concealing a homicidal death.
Wednesday was the date for the final pre-trial hearing in Rivera’s case, but the case has now been delayed until May 5th. The contention of extended media coverage will be considered by Judge Allan Lolie.
A possible plea might also be considered at the May 5th hearing. Rivera remains in custody.
