Altamont school board members Monday awarded the bid for concrete for the high school parking lot project. The bid went to Precise for $597,510.

The board also awarded the LED sign bid to S&K for $36,980 to replace the sign along US Route 40.

In personnel moves, the Altamont board employed Kristi Kraemer as varsity volleyball coach and Erica Storck as assistant volleyball coach. Also employed were Shaun Splechter as 7th grade volleyball coach and Jarielle Cameron as teacher librarian.

The Board accepted the resignation of Alex Walden as high school Ag teacher effective June 30, and accepted letters of intent to retire from Sheri Schafer and Kathy Clausius effective at the end of the 2028-2029 school year. Chris Guse was approved as 8th grade girls basketball volunteer.

Renewed on 12-month contracts were Maintenance Director Tayler Polk, Nurse Madysen Miller, School Psychologist and Special Education Coordinator Kathy Clausius, Technology Coordinator Lori Grimsley, Technology Director Austin Harvey, and Assistant Principals and ADs Katie Lurkins and Jeni Aldrich. The Board also approved annual raises for non-contracted employees.

Altamont board members heard from high school Student Council members Evan Elam and Nate Lurkins and sponsor Ann Nelson on activities of the organization through the year. They renewed membership in the IHSA and IESA for the coming year, and approved this year’s school calendar to address a snow day with May 21 the last day for students and May 22 the last day for teachers.

The Board approved a contract with OPAA for food service for the coming school year, and discussed transportation fleet options to replace a van and an activity bus for next fiscal year with both units to be replaced with used inventory.
