 Fayette County Authorities Investigating Two Sunday Deaths

Fayette County authorities investigated two deaths on Sunday.

The Fayette County Coroner’s Office was dispatched by the Fayette County Sheriff’s Office in the early morning hours.

38-year-old John A. Feltner was pronounced dead just after 4am in his home in St. Elmo. An autopsy was performed on Feltner Monday morning in Springfield.

The second dispatch of the Coroner’s Office was in the late afternoon Sunday.

Shortly after 5pm, 77-year-old John C. Hampton, Sr. of Ramsey was pronounced dead at his residence. An autopsy will be performed on Hampton on Wednesday.

Several agencies were involved in the afternoon incident including the St. Elmo/Ramsey Police Department, Fayette County Sheriff’s Office, and various Illinois State Police agencies. This incident is pending further investigation.

No further information is being released on either incident.
