A loan to a local business is moving ahead after approval this week by the Effingham County Economic Development Advisory Board and Grants Committee.
A loan of $12,000 was earmarked for Bodyworx Massage Health and Wellness, a business located at 910 West Jefferson Avenue in Effingham. Owner Laura Greuel indicated she hopes to add another one or two employees within the next year.
The final approval rests with the Effingham County Board at this month’s meeting.
Meanwhile, the Advisory Board is still waiting on a grant from USDA Rural Development for additional funds. Loans like the one for Bodyworx are part of a revolving loan fund. Businesses are loaned funds then have a certain time to repay the funds with interest, and the funds are loaned out to other businesses.
