Illinois crude oil production totaled 6,774,035 barrels in 2025, according to data compiled by the Illinois Petroleum Resources Board. That’s a slight decrease from 2024.
In our area, Fayette County was 5th with 293,821 barrels produced. Clay County was 7th with 244,337 barrels produced. Jasper County was 14th in production and Effingham County ranked 21st.
43 Illinois states were involved in crude oil production. Overall production in the state was down 6.08% from 2024 levels, down 438,162 barrels.
