No one was injured in a train/vehicle collision south of Watson on Friday.

The Effingham County Sheriff’s Office was called to the scene at 10:31pm. The crash happened on the CN railroad crossing at 400th Avenue, about one mile north of Mason.

A pickup truck pulling a two-wheeled dolly carrying another vehicle was eastbound and got stuck on the crossing. The driver, 65-year-old Henry Dietz of Edgewood, had time to flee the vehicle before it was struck by the train.

The impact knocked off the crossing post and arm. CN crews made repairs while county deputies controlled traffic through the area. Repairs were completed around midnight.
