A second woman has died from injuries received when a vehicle struck the Odd Fellow-Rebekah Home in Mattoon.
86-year-old Carol A. Wilson of Mattoon was pronounced dead at Carle Foundation Hospital in Urbana at 9:45pm Saturday. Wilson was flown from the scene of the crash, which occurred at 11:28am Friday.
The other woman in the room at the home, 82-year-old Sharon Harpster of Mattoon, was pronounced dead at the scene shortly after the crash.
A SUV ran off Lafayette Avenue East and came to rest inside the north wall of the building. The driver and sole occupant of the vehicle, 54-year-old Curtis A. Meadows was arrested by Mattoon police on charges of aggravated DUI and reckless homicide.
The court has ruled that Meadows will remain in custody. He is next due for a hearing on May 19.
