Beverly J. Niccum, 92 of Effingham, passed away May 8, 2025 at Heartland Senior Living in Neoga.

Beverly was born December 17, 1932 in Effingham, the daughter of Paul and Martha (Gibson) Stephens.  She married Don Niccum on June 9, 1951 in Effingham.  They had two daughters, Melissa and Julie.  She worked for the Head Start program for 27 years and retired in 1999 as the Executive Director of the Head Start program.  She was an active member of the Free Methodist Church and served in many positions for the church.  On November 5, 2017, she was consecrated as deacon of the church.

Beverly is survived by her daughter, Julie; grandchildren, Andy Wharton, Maggie (Collin) Baker, Dallas (Kim) Coats, Philip (Kristen) Coats, and Zaida Draken; great-grandchildren, Trace and Briar Wharton, Adra, Ethan, and Charlie Baker, Madelyn, Kevin, Olivia, Samuel, Gabriel, Rebekah, Lydia, and Lance Coats; great-great-grandson, Bennett Baker, and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband; daughter and son-in-law, Melissa and Phil Coats; son-in-law Bud Wharton; father, mother, and stepfather, Martha and Arthur Potts; brother and sister-in-law, Mike and Mary Jo Stephens.

No services are scheduled at this time.  In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Bauer Funeral Home.
