Daniel J. “Danny” Hankins, 65, of Lake Sara, Effingham, IL, peacefully passed away in his sleep after a short illness on Wednesday, May 7, 2025, at his home.
Danny was born on April 12, 1960, in Effingham, the son of Forrest and Evelyn (Donsbach) Hankins. Danny owned and operated the Lake Sara Campground and the Lake Sara Beach for many
years. He loved his patrons and loved the outdoors. He had a love for his dogs that matched no other. He never met a stranger and we will miss his sense of humor and his laughter.
Danny is survived by his siblings, David (Sharon) Hankins of Eva, TN, Doug Hankins of Shumway, Linda Niebrugge of Lake Sara, and Dwane Hankins of Ocala, FL; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
