Alice Marie Welton, 90, of Effingham, IL, passed away on Sunday, May 4, 2025 at Sarah Bush Willow Breeze Hospice House in Mattoon, IL.

Funeral services will be held at 12 Noon on Friday, May 9, 2025 at Johnson Funeral Home in Effingham. Burial will be in Oak Ridge Cemetery in Effingham. Visitation will be held from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 Noon prior to the service at the funeral home on Friday, May 9, 2025. In lieu of flowers and gifts, memorials may be made to the family. Alice was born on December 21, 1934 in Effingham, IL, daughter of John and Florence (Shadwell) Pippin. Alice loved her family, and they came first. She loved her children and grandchildren. She was an avid bingo player, enjoyed fishing and cooking. Alice was selfless and would feed and clothe anyone. She had a heart of gold.

Alice is survived by her children, Lydia Pearce, Tina Wallace, Betty Goodwin, Cecil Shadwell Jr., Martin Shadwell, Glen C. Welton Jr., Alice M. Workman, Julie Welton, Jeanette Welton, Dwight Welton, Shirley Smith (Donald), Retha Orr (Roger), Edna Smith (Fred), and Harold Welton (Jeanna); half-brothers, Kenneth Gerhardt and Wallace Gerhardt; and many grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great-greatgrandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Glen C. Welton, Sr.; children, Janet Robey and Mark E. Forrester; step-children, Jack Welton (Leann), Donald “Curly” Welton (Cheryl), Ted Welton (Pat), Gerald Welton, Tom Welton, Mark Welton (Debbie), Glen “Jeep” Welton (Ann), and Joann Welton (Robert); sisters, Leona Mast, Virginia Elledge, and Mary Muntean; brothers, Jim Pippin, William Pippin, and Robert Pippin; grandchildren, David Welton, Sunclep Powell, and Aaron James Robey; and nephew, Timothy Owens.
