ARCOLA — Neoga fell to Arcola by a 9-2 count in high school baseball action Tuesday.
The Purple Riders moved into a 1-0 opening inning lead and led 3-0 after two. Neoga pulled back within 3-2 in the top of the fourth only to see Arcola tally three more runs in the bottom of the frame.
Neoga finished with seven hits led by Colin Blazich with two singles and a double, Carter Young with a double and an RBI, Matt Propst with a double, Malik Coy with two singles and Evan Fearday with an RBI.
Arcola had nine hits led by Tanner Thomas with two singles, two home runs and six RBI and Brevyn Whisman and Brody Drake with a single and an RBI each.
Whisman was the winning pitcher. He went three innings, allowing no runs on two hits, no walks while striking out six.
Neoga dropped to 123-6 on the season.

At Mount Zion
In a junior varsity game, Mount Zion handed Effingham St. Anthony a 9-5 loss behind a 10-hit attack Tuesday.
The Braves moved ahead 4-0 in the first but St. Anthony tied in the top of the second. Mount Zion regained the lead in the bottom of the frame with a run, then added on three in the third and one in the fifth. St. Anthony’s other run came in the fourth.
Mount Zion had 10 hits while St. Anthony had nine.
The Bulldogs were led by Eric Utz with two singles, a double and an RBI and Will Bierman with two singles and an RBI.
