Teutopolis claimed the championship of the Class 1A Olney, Richland County Tennis Sectional during the weekend.
The Wooden Shoes scored 29 points followed by Effingham St. Anthony 16, Robinson 12, Newton 12, Mattoon 11, Mount Carmel 10, Effingham 6, Casey-Westfield 6, Charleston 4 and Olney-Richland County 2.
The top four singles players and top four doubles teams advance to the State Meet, hosted by Buffalo Grove.
In singles play, T-town’s Abbie Lee placed first while Raegan Zerrusen took third. Also advancing in singles were Newton’s Olivia Sornberger who finished second and Casey-Westfield’s Daisy Mumford who took fourth.
In doubles play, Avery Probst and Cecilia Donsbach finished first for the Wooden Shoes and will advance.
Effingham St. Anthony’s Nora Trupiano and Avery Jones finished fourth and will also advance.
Other doubles teams heading to State were Mount Carmel’s Hazel Earnest and Alivia Peach and Mattoon’s Bell Powers and Leila Westra.
The State Tennis Tournament will be held Thursday, October 22, Friday, October 23 and Saturday, October 24.
