The St. Anthony High School soccer team seniors were honored in a match against Carlyle Tuesday.
Unfortunately Carlyle handed the Bulldogs a 4-0 loss.
“Today, we honored our seniors and they played hard and most of the game,” said St. Anthony Coach Martin Reyes. “Our defense did well and we are very proud of the team’s hard work.
“Our seniors included Devin Grubb, Issac Fallert, Eli Hiatt, Frank Scheidemantel, Myra Christy and Mason Jones. Thank you seniors for your hard work and teamwork.
“Devin got his first start as a goalkeeper, played hard, and made many great saves.
“Issac, one of our captains, led and organized our defense, and made great tackles of stops. Under his leadership we caught Carlyle offside many times.
“Eli, another of our captains, had great defensive and attacking plays and stops as he played the center defensive position.
“Frank played the center attacking position, creating many passing lanes, advancing the ball and helping defend the mid-field. He had great opportunities at goal.
“Myra played our sticker position. She created many opportunities with her pressing. She also created many opportunities to score as she “crashed the goal”.
“Mason Jones, another of our captains, had the opportunity to be part of the starters. He has played hard all season and have been a great leader in and off the field.”
The junior varsity won 2-1, with goals from Ben Sudkamp and Joey LaSarge.
The St. Anthony postseason starts at Greenville this Saturday at 10 a.m.
