Charles “Chuck” Fluga, 92, of Stewardson, Illinois, passed away at home on October 5, 2026, surrounded by the love of his family. He was a lifelong resident of Stewardson and lived a life marked by hard work, devotion to family, faith, and service to his community.

Visitation will be held from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Friday, October 9, 2026, at Brummerstedt Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, October 10, 2026, at Trinity Lutheran Church with Reverend Gary Fortcamp officiating. Interment will follow in Stewardson Cemetery. Memorials in Chuck’s honor may be made to Trinity Lutheran Church or the Stewardson Fire Department and mailed to 302 W. Main St., Shelbyville, IL 62565.
Chuck was born on July 27, 1934, in Stewardson, the son of Frederick and Caroline (Friese) Fluga. He grew up in the community he would call home for his entire life and was a proud 1952 graduate of Stewardson-Strasburg High School, where he was part of the first graduating class after the two schools consolidated.

On November 11, 1954, Chuck married Marjorie Ann Rincker, and together they shared nearly 70 years of marriage before her passing in 2024. Charles dedicated his life to the Lord, his wife, his sons, his grandchildren and his great-grandchildren. He deeply loved Marjorie and always did things with her in mind. He taught his sons practical mechanics that they have used throughout their lives.
Throughout the years, Chuck worked in a variety of roles that reflected his strong work ethic and willingness to serve wherever he was needed. He owned and operated Fluga Radiator, where he specialized in small engine and radiator repair. His other jobs included delivering fuel for Standard Oil, working at the corner gas station and as a mechanic at Beals Ford. Prior to retirement, he spent 20 years at the school as a mechanic and bus driver, he loved driving the kids and always said none of them were ever a problem.
Chuck also gave generously of his time to the Stewardson Fire Department, where he volunteered and served as Chief for several years. Faith was an important part of Chuck’s life, and he was an active member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Stewardson. He served as an Elder, usher and sang in the choir. Chuck’s presence in the church was steady and familiar, and he found purpose and fellowship in serving alongside others. He was happiest when he was working and he especially enjoyed mowing the grass.
Surviving are his two sons, Eric (Julie) Fluga of Hanna City and Alan (Sue) Fluga of Steger; six grandchildren, Matthew (Cori) Fluga, Robin Fluga, Jennifer (Joe) Parsons, Timothy Fluga, Lisa Fluga, and Ben (Arien) Fluga; five great-grandchildren, Esmae, Layla, Logan, Grace, and Bennett, and one nephew, JJ Latch of Stewardson.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, his son, Gerry E. Fluga, and his two sisters, Matilda and
Dorothy.
