Jeannette Louise (Duckwitz) Brown, 90, of Altamont died peacefully at 7:50 AM September 17, 2026 at her home in Altamont, IL.

Per her wishes, she was cremated, with inurnment in a memorial service officiated by the Reverend Gary Fortkamp to be held at Arborcrest Memorial Park Mausoleum, 9455 US Hwy 40, Effingham, IL on Thursday, October 15th with visitation beginning at 10:00 am, services at 11:00 am following military
rites for her husband Edward who died on December 12, 2020, with his remains placed at the same time. Kull Funeral Home, Altamont assisting the family with arrangements.
Jeannette was born in Effingham County, Mound Township, IL, on August 21, 1936, in her family home, a daughter of Edna C. (Milleville) Duckwitz and Martin J. Duckwitz.
She graduated from Altamont High School in 1954 and worked in Springfield, IL, before she came back to raise her family in Altamont.
On January 15, 1977 she married Edward R. Brown, and they were blessed with 43 years of marriage.
She was preceded in death by him on December 12, 2020.
She retired from Crane Packing in Vandalia, Illinois. She enjoyed gardening, sewing, crafts, playing the piano, camping, fishing, traveling, along with being somewhat of a computer-literate grandma.

She was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Altamont. Along with her husband, Ed, she spent many winters at their home in Mountainsburg, Arkansas, as well as traveling the Midwest.
Jeannette is survived by her three children, Terry White (Tina), and Gary White (Sandra) of Altamont, IL, Patricia Ramsey (Kenneth) of Louisville, IL; stepchildren; sisters Lucille Beccue of Altamont, IL, and Irene Brandt of Beecher City, IL; sisters-in-law Kay Carter of Pocahontas; grandchildren Aaron White (Kelsey) of Altamont, IL; Christine Coventry (Reuben) of Louisville, IL and their daughter, Samantha; Amber Ferry (Joe) and their children, Ben, Ruth, Anna, Zoe; Danielle Ramsey (Adam) of Fort Wayne, IN and their
daughter Elliana.
She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers-in-law Harold Beccue, Ronald Brandt; grandson
Kevin Ramsey; stepson James Brown; brother-in-law Bradley Brown; and sister-in-law Vicky Wheeler and
Donna Swearingen.

Memorials may be made to Arborcrest Memorial Park or to the donor’s choice.
