The Neoga Fire Department handled a small fire at a residence in Neoga yesterday afternoon.
At 3:05 p.m. Monday afternoon, the Neoga Fire and Ambulance services and the Sigel Fire Department were dispatched to a reported structure fire.
Upon arrival, crews observed light smoke emanating from the building. Subsequent investigation determined that a pet had inadvertently activated a stove burner while attempting to reach an object on the stovetop. This caused a pan to overheat and a spatula to melt.
Personnel successfully deactivated the burner and ventilated the premises.
The Neoga Police Department also provided on-site assistance.
All units were cleared from the scene by 4:08 p.m.
