Dieterich Junior High School finished fourth at the IESA Class 1A State Baseball Tournament during the weekend.
Dieterich won its opener over Pawnee, 7-1. Both teams had four hits but Pawnee committed four errors.
Dieterich held a 1-0 opening inning lead but Pawnee tied in the second. The local squad then moved ahead with three runs in the third and three more in the fourth.
The Roadrunners were led by Kessler with a double, Bohnhoff with two singles and an RBI and Keck, Nussmeyer and Funneman with an RBI each.
Keck was the winning pitcher. He went all seven innings, giving up one run on four hits, two walks and striking out one.
In the second contest, Deterich fell to Champaign St. Matthew, 10-5.
St. Matthew pushed into a 3-0 opening inning lead. Dieterich came back to knot the two in the fourth at 4-4. But St. Matthew moved ahead with two in the fifth and four more in the sixth. Dieterich scored a final run in the seventh.

In the third place game, Peoria Limetone Walters was a 9-2 winner.
Peoria Limestone tallied a run in the second, two in the third, two more in the sixth and finished out with four in the seventh.
Dieterich’s runs came in the fifht and sixth.
