Ruth Ann Carpenter, 86, of Brownstown, died at 1:18 p.m., Saturday, October 3, 2026 at SBL Fayette County Hospital Long Term Care, Vandalia.
Burial will be at 3:00 p.m., Monday, October 5, 2026 at Pilcher Cemetery, Brownstown. Memorials may be made to the donor’s choice.
Gieseking Funeral Home, Altamont is assisting the family with arrangements.
Ruth was born on Friday, May 3, 1940 in Vandalia to Raymond and Helen (Durbin) Sidwell. She married Carlos Carpenter and he preceded her in death.
She is survived by; her sons, Steve Carpenter, Brownstown and Kevin Carpenter, Altamont; daughter, Carla
Carpenter, Altamont; brother, Rick Sidwell, Washington; sister, Regina Sue Hopkins, St. Joseph, MO.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by; her brothers, Dallas, Dennis, Donald and Dale Sidwell.
