“Friday we played host to Centralia in a game that was more than just soccer,” said Altamont Coach Eric Morales. “It was a day where the Altamont soccer team invited the community to come and support Mae’s Miracle. Pink out Friday night. Where the Indians came out in all pink, and Centralia in all white, trimmed in pink. Pink streamers and balloons floated throughout the bleachers.
“Parents, fans, supporters and the community came walking in with delicious baked goods, yummy chilly, pulled pork sandwiches and raffle prizes a plenty! To see what this community did Friday night right before my very eyes made me super proud to be a part of the Altamont Community and its coaching staff.
“What we were able to donate, the smiles and cheers and excitement everyone had and then finally to see the family everyone came to support, there with their daughter and smiles from ear to ear, brought tears of joy to my eyes. Tribe support was strong Friday evening!
“Centralia did come out with the win over the us 3-0 in a very very strong hard battle, but at the end of the day, it wasn’t just about the game, we came with a goal and a mission and we as a big team and community crushed it and did absolutely amazing! Thank you everyone for everything.
The Indians then played host to St Anthony Saturday in soccer action and captured a 4-0 victory.
“We came in with a trimmed team only starting 20% of our normal starters due to injuries,” said Altamont Coach Eric Morales.
“We still came in strong with possession and control and immediately started giving the Bulldogs’ keeper a workout,” said Altamont Coach Eric Morales. “Ten minutes in, Kaleb Overton sent a nice cross to find James Durbin on the one touch shot to hit the back of the net for a 1-0 Indians lead.
“Later Jaxon Phillips found the back of the net on a loose ball going 2-0. Chase Pals, on a corner kick, found Mason Suey for a head ball into the back of the net for a 3-0 lead going into the half.”
“In the second half, we continued to apply pressure on the keeper with everything we had. Calvin Bannister was able to find Hayden Bridges on a nice pass to get his first goal giving us the 4-0 victory.”
Altamont returns to action Tuesday night with 10-5-2 record and travels to Arthur.
