LOUISVILLE — North Clay and Neoga continued a high school baseball game that had been suspended earlier in the week and the Cardinals came out the 8-5 victor.
The contest had been suspended after only two innings of play with North Clay leading 4-0.
Neoga came back to score single runs in the third and fourth innings to pull within 4-2. But the Cardinals tallied three more in the bottom of the fourth.
Neoga pulled within 7-5 in the top of the fifth. North Clay added on a final run in the bottom of the inning.
North Clay finished with nine hits and was aided by three Neoga errors.
T. Hemphill led the Cardinals with a single and double while B. Adair had a double and an RBI. W. Ballard and C. Schnepper finished with two singles and an RBI each. C. Lewis and C. Cartright hit a single and an RBI each.
C. Cartright was the winning pitcher. He went five innings, giving up five runs, 10 hits, two walks and striking out one. W. Ballard came on to finish out the final two innings. He allowed one hit and gave up one walk.
B. Sparrow had a single, double and an RBI while E. Fearday and M. Platz finished with two singles each for Neoga. Fearday added an RBI. G. Ballinger had a single and an RBI and C. Lanham an RBI
