BELLEVILLE — Effingham St. Anthony captured second place at the Belleville Althoff Boys Golf Classic Monday.
O’Fallon was the winner with a 287 followed by St. Anthony 290 and Belleville Althoff Catholic who tied with a 290 each. St. Anthony finished second due to two players finishing in the top six while Belleville Althoff Catholic had only one golfer, Carson Tribout who was the medalist in the top six.
The top three teams were followed by Edwardsville 291, Breese Meter Dei 298, Freeburg 310, Father McGivney 311, Alton Marquette 313, Mascoutah 318, Columbia 320, Belleville West 321, Breese Central 323, Gibault Catholic 326, O’Fallon No. 2 335, Alton 337, Collinsville 351, Metro East Lutheran 373 and Granite City 386.
St. Anthony’s Logan Gowin finished third with a 35-33 — 68 while James Trupiano was sixth with a 36-35 — 71. Also scoring for the Bulldogs were Jameson McAllaster 43-32 — 75 and Liam McAllaster 36-40 — 76.
Non-counters were Briggs Whitley 41-41 — 82 and Trenton Sandschafer 36-46 — 82.
At Oblong
Altamont and Dieterich competed in a triangular boys golf meet at Oak Glen Golf Course in Robinson hosted by Oblong/Palestine/Hutsonville Monday.
Oblong/Palestine/Hutsonville won with a 171 followed by Altamont 172 and Dieterich 172. Altamont got second place with the tiebreaker.
Henry Niermann finished in second place with a 40. Mason Schaub had a 43, Carter Boehm a 44, Hunter Grobengieser a 45, Cooper McManaway a 46 and Evan Elam a 49.
Other scores included Garrett Flood 52, Gunner Casey 53, Grant Suckow 53, Jackson Pagone 53, Landon Savage 63 and Riley Scholes 64.
