Howard A. “Dude” Hartman, age 64, of Flora, Illinois, passed away on Sunday, September 20, 2026, surrounded by his family.
A Celebration of life service will be held at 12:00 PM (Noon) on Friday, October 2, 2026, at the Cornerstone Christian Church, 3600 South Banker Street, Effingham, Illinois. Visitation will be held 2 hours prior to the service (10:00-12:00) at the church. In loving memory of Howard memorials may be made to the family. The family has selected Burkland s Florist & Gifts in Effingham, Illinois. Arrangements are in the care of Meyer Funeral Home in Olney, Illinois. Howard, better known as “Dude”, was born on March 1, 1962, in Mattoon, Illinois, the son of Howard D. and Kathryn L. (Richards) Hartman. Howard proudly served his country in the United States Marines. He loved spending time with his family. He was a member of the Cornerstone Christian Church in Effingham, Illinois and loved being in the tech booth.
Above all else, he was a devoted father to his five daughters and a loving grandfather who cherished every moment spent with his family. Family was the center of his life, and he never missed an opportunity to celebrate their special moments. His daughters and grandchildren will deeply miss his presence in their lives, but they will forever cherish the countless memories they shared with him. His love, guidance, and unwavering dedication to his family will remain in their hearts for generations to come.
Howard is survived by:
Daughters- Terry (Randy) McDonald, Kelsey (Jay) Burton, Cierra Hartman, all of Charleston, Illinois, Chrystal Hartman, and Keah Hartman of Flora, Illinois.
Grandchildren- Cameron McDonald, Brandyn McDonald, Laron Gordon, Kainen Burton, Kaylee McDonald, Owen Burch and Kathryn Burton.
His six siblings and many loved ones also survive.
Howard was preceded in death by his parents and wife, Cathy Hartman.
