NEWTON — Newton handed Paris a 35-29 loss in high school football action Friday.
Paris moved into a 7-0 first quarter lead and scored a touchdown in the second quarter.
But Newton tallied two touchdowns in the second period for a 15-15 halftime tie. Both teams scored two touchdowns in the third quarter and the game was still tied, this time at 29-29 going into the final period.
Newton then tallied a final touchdown for the 35-29 win.
Hayden Mulvey completed 13 of 24 passes for 227 yards and three touchdowns. Mulvey finished with 227 yards offensively.
Maddox Horner had 103 yards and scored four touchdowns. Quincy Fulton had 44 yards and scored a touchdown.
Defensively, William Michl had three solo tackles and nine assists. Parker Harris had three solo tackles and three assists, Henry Will had three solo tackles and two assists, Maddox Horner had three solo tackles and one assist. Beau Bennett had one solo tackle and seven assists and Hayden Burnell had five assists.
