CHAMPAIGN — Windsor/Stewardson-Strasburg captured third place at the Champaign Central Volleyball Invitational during the weekend.
In pool play Friday, Windsor/Stew-Stras fell to Washington 18-25, 25-14, 15-8. and lost to Flossmore 25-21, 25-23.
In Saturday action, Windsor/Stew-Stras lost to Mahomet, 25-20, 17-25, 15-13.
The Hatchets came back to beat Cissna Park, 15-25, 25-7, 15-13.
Windsor/Stew-Stras finished claiming the third place match over Carterville. The Hatchets lost the opener 25-17 but came back to win the match 25-17, 15-13.
“Another great tournament with tons of strong competition so third in Silver is an awesome finish for us,” said WSS Coach Ronda Schlechte. “We took four out of five matches to three sets so the girls really had to battle. Highlights for the weeekend are taking the third place Washington to three sets and also finally beating Cissna Park. That was a long time coming. We ended the day with two strong sets both going three sets, but we were able to finish on top for the win. So proud for how they didn’t give up and kept fighting hard.”
Windsor/Stew-Stras is now 13-6 on the season and will be back in action tonight vs. Shelbyville during Pink Night.

In the Effingham Freshman/Sophomore Tournament, Effingham Defeated Olney in three sets, Teutopolis downed St. Anthony 25-16, 25-14.
The consolation match, Olney defeated St. Anthony in three sets.
The championship match went to Teutopolis over Effingham, 25-11, 25-15. T-town is now 8-3-1 on the season.

North Clay competed at the Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City Tournament during the weekend.
Dieterich defeated North Clay 25-23, 19-25, 17-15. North Clay then fell to Neoga 25-16, 25-21. The Cardinals won over Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City 25-12, 25-19.
