St. Anthony hosted their tournament Saturday.
Waterloo won the championship, followed by Newton in second. Mt. Zion won third with St. Anthony finishing fourth.
In pool play St. Anthony defeated Shelbyville 25-14, 25-17, defeated Mt. Zion 27-25, 25-21 and Father McGivney 25-15, 25-22.
In the other pool Newton defeated Unity 25-18, 25-13 and Nashville 23-25, 25-18, 15-11 before falling to Waterloo. 22-25. 2–25.In the crossover semi-final Newton defeated St Anthony 25-15, 35-33.
St. Anthony then lost to Mt. Zion 20-25, 22-25 in the 3rd place contest
The championship Newton fell to Waterloo 25-19, 22-25, 9-15.
Newton now has a record of 16-2. St. Anthony is 13-3 on the season.
Effingham and Teutopolis both played in the Charleston Tournament.
In Pool Play Teutopolis defeated Charlseton 13-25, 27-25, 15-5, Highland 25-21, 28-26, and Decatur MacArthur 25-18, 25-11, in pool A
In Pool B Effingham lost to Mattoon 20-25, 22-25, beat Carbondale 25-16, 25-19, and lost to Centralia 21-25, 19-25.
In the 5th place game Effingham defeated Charleston 29-27, 25-13 to finish the day 2-2, and the Hearts are 9-7 on the season.
Highland defeated Mattoon for third.
Teutopoils defeated Centralia 26-24 25-21 in the Championship match. The shoes are now 14-4 on the season.
Brittany Swingler was named All-tournament and tournament MVP and Elise Pals was also named to the All-tournament team.
Vandalia Tournament Results
North Clay lost to Fairfield 10-25, 17-25, and Carlyle 20-25 , 11-25, before picking up a win over Vandalia 25-19, 25-15. They lost to South Central 22-25, 17-25 in the 5th place contest.
Along with their win over North Clay South Central also defeated Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City 25-8, 25-11. The Cougars suffered losses to Salem 11-25, 21-25, and Hillsboro 21-25, 22-25, as they finished 5th in the tournament.
Along with CHBC’s loss to South Central the Bobcats suffered losses to Hillsboro 10-25, 11-25, and Salem 21-25, 8-25 in pool play. They than lost to Vandalia in the Seventh place match 21-25, 23-25.
Cumberland was in the North Mac/New Berlin Tournament over the weekend.
The Lady Pirates opened up play with a wins over Calvary 25-12, 23-25, 15-7 and North Mac 25-13, 23-25, 15-12. However their tournament end with losses to Greenfield 19-25, 13-25, New Berlin 15-25, 20-25, and Liberty 26-28, 25-17. Cumberland in now 7-9 on the season.
