TOLEDO — Cumberland was a winner over Altamont in high school volleyball action Thursday evening.
The Pirates won 25-14, 25-13.
Cumberland was led by Alysa Dittamore with 15 assists, Mia Holsapple with eight kills and one block, Sadie Colnar with one block, Madelyn McElravy with five aces and Alysa Dittamore and Caroline Fritts with four digs each.
The Pirates are back in action today at the New Berlin Tournament.
Leading Altamont were Lydia Aldrich with three kills, Abigail Wills with three digs and one ace, Adilyn Schnarre with six assists and one ace and Lilly Burrow with one ace.
In junior varsity play, Cumberland won 25-13, 25-18.

E. Meyer, Pals and Zumbahlen led the Wooden Shoes in blocks with one each. Swingler led in digs with 10 and G. Tegeler led in kills with 11. Swingler had 30 sets while Jodan had 14 assists.
In junior varsity play, T-town won 25-18, 25-18. The freshman/sophomore victory went to Neoga 25-18, 26-24.

St. Anthony went three sets before downing Marshall Thursday.
The Bulldogs won the opener 25-14 but Marshall came back with a 25-16 second set. St. Anthony then won the match 25-13 to improve to 10-1 on the season.
Cara Hatton led the Bulldogs in kills with 12, digs with 10 and blocks with two. Ali Kollmann also had two blocks. Madelyn Gilmore led in assists with 15. Sophia Emmerich had four aces.
St. Anthony will be hosting a tournament Saturday.
The Bulldogs’ junior varsity squad won 25-23, 25-15.

Effingham handed Apollo Conference opponent Charleston a loss in varsity action Thursday.
The Hearts won the opener 25-17 but Charleston fought back for a 27-25 victory. Effingham then won the match 25-12 to improve to 7-5 on the season.
Melia Wendling led the team in kills with nine and digs with seven. Camdyn Burgholzer and Macy Kirk had three aces each. Burgholzer led in assists with 16, blocks with two and digs with seven. Mara Braun also had two blocks.
In junior varsity play, Effingham was a winner 25-13, 25-20. Effingham also won the freshman/sophomore match, 25-21, 22-25, 15-13.
The Hearts are back in action Saturday at the Charleston Tournament.

Newton remained on the unbeaten trail by downing Casey-Westfield 25-10, 25-21 Thursday.
The Eagles’ Stanley led in assists with 16, aces with four and blocks with one. Hermann had seven kills and six digs. Thomann also had six digs.
Newton now sports a perfect 13-0 record.
In junior varsity play, Newton won 25-15, 25-16.
The Eagles are back in action at the St. Anthony Tournament facing Unity at 8 a.m., Nashville at 10 a.m. and Waterloo at noon.

Windsor/Stewardson-Strasburg swept through competition with St. Elmo/Brownstown Thursday.
The Hatchets won the varsity match, 25-15, 25-18 to improve to 4-0 in the National Trail Conference and 9-3 overall.
Mya Friese led in kills with 11 and had two block assists. Kenzie Thompson had five aces. Kendra Hayes finished with 23 assists and seven digs. Brooke Schumacher led with one solo block.
“We lost some focus tonight and had too many service errors,” said WSS Coach Ronda Schlechte. “SEB challenged us at the net in set one and we struggled using our offense like we should have. We picked things up in set two with Mya firing off several hard attacks. Kenzie had a great night with five aces.”
In junior varsity, Windsor/Stew-Stras won 25-19, 25-21 to improve to 6-1. St. Elmo/Brownstown was the winner in the freshman/sophomore contest, 27-25, 25-23. WSS dropped to 4-4-2.
