Colleen Sutton, 101, of Effingham, IL, passed away on Monday, September 14, 2026 at HSHS St. Anthony’s Memorial Hospital in Effingham.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, September 22, 2026 at Cornerstone Christian Church in Effingham. Burial will be in Old Union Cemetery in rural Louisville. Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Monday, September 21, 2026 at Johnson Funeral Home in Effingham. In lieu of flowers and gifts, memorials may be made to Cornerstone Christian Church or Oil Belt Christian Service Camp. Online condolences may be shared at www.johnsonandsonsfh.com.

Colleen was born on July 15, 1925, in Urbana, IL, the daughter of Clarence and Sylvia (Gillespie) McGee. Colleen enjoyed baking for family, friends and co-workers, bowling, knitting and crocheting, and roller skating in her younger years. But most of all, she loved and cherished spending time with her family. Colleen was active in her community and was a member of Cornerstone Christian Church, Effingham County HCE, Edgewood Masonic Lodge, Effingham Women’s Bowling Association, and was a former leader of the Loyal Homemakers 4-H Club.

Colleen is survived by her daughters, Susan (Monte) VanDyke and Connie (Roger) Elliott; grandchildren, Kevin (Kim) VanDyke, Kyle (Athena) VanDyke, Lee (Latisha) Elliott, and John (Stephanie) Elliott; great-grandchildren, Kody (Kylie Nicole) VanDyke, Kylie VanDyke, Klay (Emily) VanDyke, Ely VanDyke, Alexis VanDyke, Otto VanDyke, Audrey Elliott, Austin Elliott, Adam Elliott, and Easton Elliott; great-great grandchildren, Tripp, Will, Kip, Kora, and one on the way; as well as several nieces and nephews, cousins and her extended family at the Villas of Hollybrook in Effingham.

She was preceded in death by her parents, and 3 infant brothers.
