Bradley W. Osborne, 70, of Effingham, Illinois, passed away on Sunday, September 13, 2026, leaving behind a legacy of love, laughter, and genuine kindness that touched everyone who knew him.

Born on July 6, 1956 in Vandalia, Illinois, Brad lived a life defined by his devotion to family and his willingness to lend a hand to anyone who needed one.

Brad grew up in Atwood, Illinois, the son of the late Robert and Virginia Osborne. From an early age, he had a natural way with people, a warmth and humor that drew others to him and made them feel at ease. That gift served him well throughout his career as an insurance salesman, where his genuine nature and honest character helped him build lasting relationships with clients. Brad never treated his work as just a job. He cared about the people he served, and they knew it. Above all else, Brad was a family man. He and his wife Brenda built a beautiful life together, and anyone
who spent time around them could see the deep love and partnership they shared. Brad was, by every account, a wonderful husband, the kind of man who showed up for his family. As a father, he poured his heart into raising his children, and as a grandfather, he found a whole new well of joy. His grandchildren brought out the best in him, and he never missed an opportunity to be present in their lives. When Brad wasn’t spending time with family, you could often find him out on the water, fishing from his kayak, perfectly content with the quiet and the rhythm of the day. He was a man who loved working with his hands, always building something or tinkering on a project around the house. His yard was a point of pride, and he found real satisfaction in the simple work of keeping it just right. Brad and Brenda also shared a love of travel, and he was especially fond of trips to Mexico, where he could relax, soak in a different pace of life, and make memories together.
Brad’s sense of humor was one of the first things people noticed about him. He was genuinely funny, the kind of person who could lighten any room and make even the hardest days a little easier. But what people remembered most was his heart. He was authentic to his core, and always willing to help without being asked. Brad’s deep and abiding Christian faith was the foundation of his life. He trusted in the Lord through every season and carried that faith with quiet strength and conviction. His family takes comfort in knowing that he is now at peace in the presence of his Heavenly Father, reunited with his parents, Robert and Virginia, who preceded him in death.

Brad is survived by his beloved wife, Brenda Osborne; his son, Jeremiah (Mickie) Osborne; his daughters, Valerie (Shawn) Berry, Rachel (Billy) Sanders, Carrie (Ken) Meinhart, and Amy (Josh) Tegeler; his brother, Ronnie (Michelle) Osborne; his sister, Michelle (Rodney) Kaufman; and his grandchildren, Casey, Shelby (Ryan), Megan, Jesse, Annabel, Scarlett, Chase, Wade, Reese, Emma, Jack, and Mia, who will carry his memory forward with love.

Memorial services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, September 21, 2026 at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Effingham. Entombment will be in St. Francis Cemetery in Teutopolis. Visitation will be held from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. on Monday, September 21, 2026 prior to the service at the church. Services are in the care of Johnson Funeral Home in Effingham. In lieu of flowers and gifts, the family kindly requests that donations be made in Brad’s memory to either Transitions Hospice Care or Enduring Freedom Ministries in Shumway.
