South Central continues to roll along in the Class 1A St. Elmo Regional. The latest victim was Effingham St. Anthony as the Falcons won in five innings, 17-7.
South Central moved into a 4-0 opening inning lead. St. Anthony tallied two in the top of the third but South Central retaliated by scoring six more runs to lead 10-2.
St. Anthony again fought back with two runs in the fourth and three in the top of the fifth to pull within 10-7. But South Central put the game away by the 10-run rule with a seven-run bottom of the fifth.
Webster guided the Falcons on the mound. She gave up seven runs on four hits, seven walks and eight strikeouts.
Meanwhile, the Falcons finished with eight hits led by Rya Sidwell with a single, home run and three RBI, Emery Burdine with a triple and two RBI, Violet Skibinski with a single, double and three RBI, Raelyn Parker with two singles and an RBI, Webster with a single and an RBI and McKenna Mette with an RBI.
St. Anthony was led by Isabelle McDonald with a double, triple and three RBI and Mary Hoke with a single, double and three RBI. Those were the only hitters in the contest for the Bullpups.
In the other contest, Neoga edged St. Elmo/Brownstown, 6-5.
South Central and Neoga will now square off for the championship at 11 a.m. Saturday.

Class 3A Effingham Regional
Effingham advanced to the championship of its own regional with an 8-4 victory over Monticello Wednesday.
The Mustangs moved into a 2-1 lead in the third inning then tacked on three more runs in the fifth and led 7-4 after six. Effingham added a final run in the seventh.
Effingham finished with nine hits led by A. Gouchenouer with two triples and an RBI, T. Patton with a double and an RBI, M. Hartke with two singles and K. Robertson and L. Lauritzen with a single and an RBI each.
Hartke went three innings for the pitching victory. She gave up one run on two hits, walked two and struck out four. Lauritzen came in to finish out the final four innings, giving up three runs on two hits, two walks and striking out eight.
Mattoon was a 6-4 winner over Tolono Unity in the other contest.
Effingham will now meet Mattoon at 4:30 p.m. today for the regional championship.

Class 2A Macon Meridian Regional
Altamont’s season came to a close in the Macon Meridian Regional.
Altamont fell to host Macon Meridian, 9-6.
In the opening game, Vandalia edged Shelbyville Moulton, 3-2.
Vandalia and Macon Meridian now square off for the championship at 11 a.m. Saturday.
Class 2A Lawrenceville Parkview Regional
Jasper County advanced in the Lawrenceville Parkview Regional.
Jasper County blanked Marshall 7-0. In the second contest, Casey-Westfield down Red Hill (Bridgeport), 15-5.
Jasper County will now meet Casey-Westfield at 11 a.m. Saturday for the regional championship.
Class 2A Teutopolis Regional
Cumberland pounded Sullivan by a 16-7 count Wednesday.
Teutopolis and Windsor will be squaring off today at 7 p.m.
Cumberland will then face the winner of the Teutopolis vs. Windsor contest at 10 a.m. Saturday for the regional championship.
